Live in Houseman Gardener

£37000.00 - £42000 per annum DOE + accommodation

Live In Handyman/Gardener in the Cotswolds

Starting: ASAP

Hours: 5 days a week Mon-Fri with flexibility to support the family when they visit

Accommodation: Separate to the main house a 1-bedroom cottage with bathroom, open plan living and kitchen and own private area of the garden. Fully furnished, well behaved pets considered. You will be able to use one of the client's vehicles for work purposes.

A London based family, plus their friendly Labrador, are looking for an experienced live in houseman gardener for their beautiful 7-bedroom house and 2 bedroom outbuilding in the Cotswolds.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work for an informal down to earth welcoming family. The family are based in London Monday - Friday and plan to spend around 2-3 months of the year in the countryside - mainly during school holidays and the occasional weekend.

 

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

 

Outdoor Maintenance

  • Complete daily patrols of the grounds to identify security risks and complete any maintenance

requirements

  • Ensure gardens, terraces, and driveway are well maintained and tidy
  • Harvest vegetables from the kitchen garden and drive them to London upon request
  • Manage septic tanks & oil tank refills.
  • Oversee water pump house service visits
  • Keep bin store clean and tidy & keep on top of bin collection timetables.
  • Maintain & set intruder and fire alarms, security cameras, entrance gates etc.
  • Pool & tennis court maintenance
  • Maintain the tennis court

 

Property Maintenance

  • Set and clean fireplaces/wood burners (source and bring in firewood as needed)
  • Assist with moving furniture
  • Pest control
  • Carry out building and decorating tasks as required
  • Understand how all appliances and systems work and maintain service records for them
  • Advise when contractors are required e.g., electricians, plumbers

 

Driving

  • Collecting family members, guests, or staff from London, or nearby train stations as required
  • Assist with airport / school runs
  • Be available for ad hoc tasks in Oxfordshire and London
  • Clean, maintain and upkeep of family vehicles
  • Immediately report any issues or damage to family vehicles

 

Pet Care

  • Feed, bath, administer medicine, and exercise the dog if needed
  • Ensure dog beds and feeding areas are cleaned on a regular basis
  • Keep gardens clear of dog waste
  • Care for other animals the family may have e.g., chickens

 

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all cleaning & gardening products labelled and stored correctly
  • Promptly report any safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses to Head of Household Staff
